Victor was born 10 April 1911 in Berlin, Germany to German born Dr Martin Wolff and Marguerite nee Jolowicz and he had an older brother Konrad. Their German father Martin was a legal scholar and prolific author and their English mother Marguerite was an interpreter at the Hague after WW1 and an interpreter at the Nuremberg trials.

Victor trained as a barrister and married Marianne Gabriele Krammer in Berlin on 5 August 1933. That same year Victor’s brother fled to Paris and Victor and his wife and parents travelled to England. Victor and Marianne lived in Willesden and the Alien Exemption Internment record states that Victor was a barrister at 1 Brick Court, Temple and was exempt from internment.

It is unknown when he enlisted but his death certificate states that he was an A.C. 2 in the Royal Air Force and a Barrister-at-Law. Victor was thirty three when he died at St Mary’s Hospital. His death certificate states that his cause of death was ‘I (a) Peritonitis (b) Acute appendicitis’
