Henri was born in Paris, France in 1910 to Marcus who was born in Amsterdam and Bristol born Odette nee Le Page Des Longchamps and he was an only child. After Henri’s birth the family returned from France and settled in Paddington, London where Marcus ran a jewellery and fancy goods shop. Henri was a cadet in the 102nd Officers Training Unit and in October 1939 he announced his engagement to Esther Franses. They were married at Brondesbury Synagogue on 24 December 1939. On 23 March 1940 Henri completed his training and was made a lieutenant in the 21st Army Tank Brigade.

On 7 January 1942, Henri was a passenger in an Army scout car which hit a grass verge and overturned at The Bottoms, Creeting St Mary near Ipswich. He was thrown from the vehicle and was killed from a fractured skull.
