Aaron was born in 1920 in Newcastle upon Tyne to Harry and Nellie née Cohen and had a younger sister Agie. In 1939, the family were living at 457 Lobley Hill Road, Gateshead and Aaron’s father Harry was working as an estate manager/rent collector.

Aaron was the observer on Halifax W7710 ‘The Ruhr Valley Express,’ which departed RAF Topcliffe on a night operation to Flensburg. The aircraft crashed at Liehaus, close to the German-Danish border. All the crew were killed.
