George was born on 27 Mar 1908 in West Ham to Solomon known as George and Amelia née Solomons. The family surname was originally Israel and was changed to Dale in 1919. George married Eva Lipman in 1936 in Hendon and their daughter Linda was born in 1938. Eva had an older brother Ronald Benjamin Lipman who was also killed serving in WW2 a year before her husband was killed. Ronald was a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Army Service Corps and he died 14 April 1942 in the Military Hospital in Shaftesbury, Dorset. His death certificate states he died from secondary shock following gunshot wounds sustained by misadventure whilst on duty at a military exercise. He is buried at Willesden Jewish Cemetery.

On 3 April 1943 Lancaster ED479 departed from RAF Waddington on a night bombing raid to Essen. The aircraft crashed at Duisberg-Meiderich, Germany killing all the crew.
