Sidney’s family details are unknown to date. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission have advised that a letter was sent to Brighton after the war but did not receive a response.

Sidney was the air bomber on Halifax JB964 which departed from RAF Pocklington on a night operation to Bochum. The aircraft was shot down from 15000 feet by a night-fighter operating W of Cologne killing five of the crew. The two other crew became prisoners of war.
