Morris was born on 24 July 1919 at 17 Hallidays Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland to Ukraine born parents Robert (Reuben), a shoemaker, and Fanny (Frieda) nee Mallach. Morris had six siblings, Cissie, Samuel, Alexander and Hyman who were born in Glasgow. The family then moved to Belfast where Rachel, Morris and Leah were born and by 1930 the family had returned to Glasgow.

Morris enlisted into the Highland Light Infantry and his obituary in the Jewish Chronicle states that he died as a result of an illness contracted whilst on active duty. He was buried with full military honours at Glenduffhill Jewish Cemetery.
