George was born in July 1911 in Hampstead, London to Bavarian born Paul and Dora nee Sonnenthal and he had two sisters Erica and Margaret. Margaret died in 1933 aged twenty one in Switzerland. They were a wealthy family living in Hampstead where their father worked as a stockbroker. Paul died in 1939 and their mother Dora moved to Eton. When George was fourteen he attended Oundle School in 1925 but left in 1928 due to ill health. He went to Emmanuel College, Cambridge in October 1930, obtaining a B.A. degree in Economics in June 1933 and M.A. in 1938.

In 1933 he joined Messrs. Adler & Perowne under Articles of Clerkship and qualified as a Solicitor in 1936, becoming a member of the Law Society in July 1937. He joined the R.A.F. Intelligence Service in 1942 and died on active service on March 4th 1944.

George died at Chalfont’s Nursing Home, Chalfont St Peter and his death certificate states:
‘I (a) Sub acute bacterial endocarditis (b) Streptococcus viridans.
II Aortic and Mitral Regurgitation.’
