Edouard was born on 28 September 1922 in Sedgley Park, Manchester to Leopold and Chochanna (Suzanne) née Rabinovitz and had a younger sister June. Edouard’s father Leopold served as a captain in the Manchester Royal Fusiliers in France in WW1. After the war he travelled to Jaffa, Israel and married French born Suzanne.

Edouard was a navigator on Lancaster NG304 which departed RAF Kirmington on a day training exercise. The aircraft banked and dived vertically into the ground on a three engine overshoot at RAF Kirmington, Lincolnshire.
