Aubrey was born in 1920 in West Derby, Lancashire to Polish parents Hyman and Dora nee Greenberg. He was the youngest of five siblings, sisters Sybil, Esther and Evelyne and a brother David.

Aubrey was the navigator on Beaufighter ND181 along with Pilot Edward Francis John Robinson. They were killed on their 18th operation with 108 Sqn. Details of their operations can be found on the link below.
