Henry was born 27 Apr 1922 in St Machar, Aberdeenshire to Louis and Marie nee Mackie.

Henry enlisted in Edinburgh after May 1941.

He was the navigator of Stirling IV EJ116 took off from RAF Fairford on 6 June 1944 to drop paratroops at DZ/LZ ’N’ on D-Day. The aircraft was shot down by flak on its way to DZ and crashed 13 km east of Ranville. All crew members and 19 paratroops were killed.
