Hyman, known as Jack, was born on 22 Mar 1919 in Thistle Street, Glasgow to Philip and Leah nee Jacobs and he had three sisters, Sadie, Tilly, Ray and a brother Frederick. Their father worked as an upholsterer in Glasgow before the family moved and settled in Dublin, Ireland.
Hyman married an Irish girl Eveline Galvin on 28 September 1944 in Dublin, Ireland and their daughter Vivienne was born around the time of his death.
Hyman was serving in 160 Squadron based in Ceylon when he died from accidental drowning whilst swimming in the Victoria Dam.
