Louis served under the name SOMERS. He was born on 18 June 1919 in Edmonton, Middlesex to Nathaniel and Esther née Levy. Louis had two older sisters, Leila who was a publicity journalist and married Sidney Pierce, and Sarah a store buyer who married Frederick Sanders. In 1939, the family were living at 56 Carlton Road, Islington and Nathan worked as a taxi driver.

Louis was an air bomber on Stirling MZ260 which departed RAF Lakenheath on a training exercise. The aircraft overshot from a three-engined approach and crashed at Lakenheath airfield, Suffolk. Four crew were killed.
