Ronald was born on 21 October 1914 in Hackney to Louis Jacobs and Sarah nee Goldstein. Ronald changed his surname from Jacobs to Jarvis. Ron’s sister Hilda who married Charles Wolfson the brother of Sir Isaac Wolfson who owned Great Universal Stores. In 1939 Ron was living at the Grosvenor Hotel in London and is listed as working as a general executive manager for G.U.S. Ron mixed with wealthy families and raced cars at Brooklands from 1935 to 1938. His friend Diana Barnato Walker, one of Britain’s top female pilots, mentions him in her book ‘Spreading my Wings’ as her dancing partner. The family attended the New West End Synagogue.

Ron was the pilot of Hurricane Z3589 which departed RAF Duxford at 12.25 as extra cover for a sweep. He was listed as missing believed killed; after his aircraft was shot down after aerial combat near Katwiyk, Netherlands.
