Albert was born in 1905 in Johannesburg, South Africa. To date his family details are unknown. He attended King Edward VII School, Johannesburg where he is commemorated on their War Memorial.

Records state that Albert travelled on the Dunnottar Castle ship in 1938 to Southampton, he was listed as an accountant and was journeying to South Africa House in London.

Albert was the pilot of Hudson N7212 along with Pilot James Lawrence Atkinson, 37340 which crashed near Leuchars. Further information is sought on the reasons for the crash.
