Barron was born on 18 March 1918 in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire to Maurice and Elizabeth nee Mendoza and he had an older brother Arthur and younger sister Evelyn. Their father worked as a travelling salesman and in 1939 Barron was living with his family at 79 Fallow Court Avenue, Finchley and working as a mantle and costume cutter (ladies’ tailoring).
Barron enlisted in the Royal Engineers in 1940 and was sent to Egypt. His death record states that he died from multiple injuries not due to enemy action.
