Max (Meir) was born 1 September 1924 in Linz, Austria to Camillo (Itzhak) and Paula nee Schwager a Zionist family. As a young man, he joined the Zionist organizations ‘Blue and White’ and ‘Maccabi’ in which he deepened his Zionist beliefs. In 1936, the family immigrated to Israel and Max studied for two years in high school and later moved to a mechanics school. He was an active member of the Maccabi movement and was one of the founders of the Northern Branch in Tel Aviv.

Max enlisted and was transferred to 42 Staging Post in Iraq. On May 18, 1944, Max died in hospital after being injured in an explosion a week earlier.
