Alexander was born on 26 September 1916 at 242 New Kent Road, Southwark, London with the surname Greenberg to London born parents Philip and Rachel nee Symons. He was the eldest of three children, a brother Sidney and a sister Phyllis. Sidney was killed two years before Alexander serving in 18 Squadron in the Royal Air Force. Alexander is buried in Phaleron War Cemetery, Greece and has a Cross on his headstone. Evidence has been sent to the CWGC to prove he was Jewish and have his headstone changed to a Star of David. His story can be found on the link below.
