Abraham was born on the 24 August 1911 at 52 Bedford Street, Liverpool to Lithuanian parents, Michael David and Leah nee Young, and he was the fourth of ten children. His older brother Morris studied to become a Minister of Religion, but all the other siblings worked in the family credit drapery business.

Abraham was serving in the Far East when he was taken as a prisoner of war by the Japanese in Thailand. He was incarcerated at Thailand Camp 4, Kanchanaburi, where the prisoners were forced to build the railway between Thailand and Burma.

Aaron is buried just outside the town of Kanchanaburi where most buried there died at the nearby hospital. His death record states that he died from malaria.
