George was born 21 June 1910 in Manchester to George and Julia nee Drucquer. George had an older sister Dorothy Adele who worked as a private secretary. Dorothy did not marry and died aged 91 in British Colombia.

In 1939, the family were living at ‘Adele’, Ridgeway Road, Timperley. George’s father was a company director of a clothing manufacturer and George worked as a sales manager for a towel manufacturer. George was engaged to Muriel Goldman. He was the first president of the Manchester Reform Synagogue after Park Place was destroyed in the Blitz. 

George enlisted in 1940 and died as a Japanese Prisoner of War in Jakarta.
