Geoffrey was born on 18 May 1921 in Leeds to Harry and Frances nee Levy and had a younger brother Stanley.

Geoffrey was based at 1 British Flying Training School in Terrell, Texas. On 17 September 1942 he was involved in a flying accident whilst training to be a pilot. A witness observed his aircraft diving steeply from out of thick clouds. Geoffrey baled out and released his parachute but collided with the tail of his aircraft which caused his death.
