Ernst was born in 1919 in Frankfurt, Germany to Julius and Freida nee Schmidt and he had two older brothers Otto and Kurt. Ernst immigrated to Israel in 1938.
He enlisted into the RAF and served in Egypt, where, on Thursday, 4 March 1941,he was involved in a car accident and killed.
