Commemorated at Bristol (Arnos Vale) Crematorium. James was cremated and his ashes were interred in the Garden of Remembrance, Stoke Poges. Recorded in the Hoop Lane Cemetery and Cremation Register of the West London Synagogue.

James was born in 1904 to Morris and Hilda Kay and he had two brothers John and Arnold and a sister Pauline. The family surname was originally Katz.

James was married to Florence and they had three children Betty, Edward and Pauline. In 1939 the family were living at 8 Bentley Road, Tendring near Clacton in Essex. The Register states that James was the manager of flats. Research is still ongoing to find more information about the family.

James died at Drummuir Nursing Home in Bridgewater, Somerset. His death certificate states that the cause of this death was a cerebral haemorrhage. His brother Arnold was with him when he died.
