Maurice was born in Liverpool in 1921 to Saul and Mary née Dillon and he had an older brother Ellis.

Halifax LV909 which departed from RAF Melbourne and collided with Halifax MZ456 of 415 Squadron over Oberscheld. The aircraft crashed at Eibach, Germany killing both crews. F/L Harrow, F/S Calvert and P/O Hollings rest in Hannover War Cemetery. The others have no known graves.
