Jack was the son of Sidney and Dora Earle of St Marylebone, London. Brother of Harold. Further details are unknown about his family.

Jack was the air bomber on Lancaster DV392 which departed from RAF Kelstern on a night operation to Leipzig. The aircraft exploded in the air throwing out P/O Roy Leslie Jacobs 158292 and S/L Edward Quentin Moody 40006. Jacobs and Moody were captured and became prisoners of war at Stalag Luft L1 at Barth Vogelsang. The rest of the crew were killed.
