Louis was born on 21 April 1924 in Leeds, Yorkshire to Poland born parents Isaac and Hannah nee Shilkraut and he was one of seven children. Their father Isaac was a tailor and Louis in 1939 was listed as a tailor’s apprentice.

Louis enlisted into the West Yorkshire Regiment and was serving in India when he died. His records state that he died as a result of an accident.
