Morris was born in 1915 in Southwark, London to Russian born parents Harry and Ettie nee Silverstein and he was one of seven children. Their father Harry worked as a hairdresser.

Morris worked as an electrician before he enlisted in 1941. Morris married Anne Silverman in Hendon in January 1943 only three months before he died. His death certificate states that he died at Central Middlesex Hospital (Twyford Lodge) from Influenzal Broncho Pneumonia.
