Albert was born on 9 April 1915 in Paddington, London to Russian born father George (Colman) and Rachel nee Cohen and he had three brothers Edmund, Israel and Ralph. Their mother died in 1927 and their father who worked as a tailor, remarried in 1933 to Elizabeth Sheere. Israel was also killed in WW2 serving as a Lance Bombardier in 142 (The Royal North Devon Yeomanry) Field Regt. He was killed three years after Albert and is buried in Salerno War Cemetery, Italy.

Albert was the observer on Blenheim T2073 which departed from LG 68 (also known as Waterloo). The aircraft was shot down by Italian pilot Tenente Chiarini and crashed at 08.30 am at Sidi Barrani. Squadron HQ of “A” Squadron 11th Hussars reported that at 08:30 hours a Blenheim was shot down by a CR.42 approximately south east of Rabia and the pilot, injured, was picked up by the unit ,while the rest of the crew was killed, thus confirming the claim of Tenente Chiarini.

Pilot Officer J. N. Owen was wounded and taken to Number 8 General Hospital. The Wireless Operator/Air Gunner Sergeant Joseph Crawford, 648647 and Observer Sergeant Albert Michael Goldfeather were both killed.
