Neville was born on 21 February 1914 in King’s Norton, Worcestershire to Archibald and Ethel nee Davis and he had a sister Joan and a brother Trevor. In 1919 their father was a dealer in fine art in Birmingham and by 1939 he was listed as an antique dealer and jeweller. In 1939, Ethel and Archibald were ARP volunteers and Archibald was listed as a Commanding Lieutenant Colonel of the Birmingham Cadet Corp Jewish Lad’s Brigade of which he had been a member since 1899. Neville’s brother Trevor enlisted into the Royal Artillery.

Neville was also a member of the Jewish Lad’s Brigade and was a member of the Golf Society. In July 1939 Neville obtained his pilot’s licence at the York and Leeming Flying Club whilst he was working as an assistant manager for Marks and Spencer in York.

Neville was called up in May 1940 and was sent to 5 O.T.U. for training in Blenheim aircraft. He converted to Hurricanes at 29 Squadron and then transferred to 17 Squadron on 10th August 1940. On 18 August he was flying Hurricane L1921 and was reported missing after a fight with Me109’s off the coast of Dover. His body was washed up on the coast of France and he was buried at Pihen-Les-Guines Communal Cemetery, France.
