Ephraim was born on 28 July 1916 at 10 Lord Street, Newcastle upon Tyne to Philip (Pinkus) and Yetta nee Schmidt and was one of eight children. Philip was born in Poland and worked as a master butcher, his name was originally Pinkus Kochanowicza and he changed his name in 1948.

Ephraim in 1939 was living with his parents and six of his siblings at 3 Hawthorn Terrace, Newcastle and he was working as a butcher’s assistant in his fathers shop.

Ephraim was killed serving in the Royal Army Service Corps in Italy. His cause of death is unknown. Please contact us if you have further information.
