Alfred was born on 21 July 1893 in Austria to Leo Felix and Anna Franck. Before escaping from the Nazi Regime Alfred worked as a bank clerk and he was married to Kaethe Mandowsky. Both of his parents were killed in the Holocaust.

In 1939, Alfred and Kaethe were living at 46 Greenhill, Hampstead High Street and Alfred was listed as working as a textile agent and they had both been exempted from internment as enemy aliens.

Alfred enlisted into the Pioneer Corps and was sent to Muirhead in Scotland. He died at 29 Lenzie Road, Stepps in Glasgow. His death certificate states that he died from Cardiac Failure.
