In May 1942, he arrived in Israel for a two-week stay at the military hospital in Netanya due to his poor health. On May 15, 1942, he rode his bicycle to see his friends in Petah Tikva. On his way back near Ibn Yehuda, a car hit him and he was killed on the spot. He was laid to rest in the British cemetery in Ramleh.
