Alfred was born on 1910 in Berlin, Germany. In his youth he had to take care of himself and worked as an electrician and as a driver. In 1936 he immigrated to Palestine where he joined a commune formed by members of the Berlin Borochovist youth in Petah Tikva and was active in the left-wing Workers’ Party of Zion, mainly as a sports instructor in the party’s youth branch in the colony.

In May 1942, he arrived in Israel for a two-week stay at the military hospital in Netanya due to his poor health. On May 15, 1942, he rode his bicycle to see his friends in Petah Tikva. On his way back near Ibn Yehuda, a car hit him and he was killed on the spot. He was laid to rest in the British cemetery in Ramleh.
