Maurice was born on 11 July 1921 in Holborn, London to Russian born Harry and Anna nee Stiers. His father worked as a hairdresser at the Imperial Hotel in Russell Square, London and served in WW1 in France in the 9th Russian Labour Corps.

Harry and Anna’s marriage certificate has been ordered to obtain information on Maurice’s family.

Maurice was the wireless operator on Lancaster LM315 which departed from RAF Binbrook on a night operation to Schweinfurt. The aircraft crashed, reason unknown. All crew were killed.
