Arthur was the son of Abraham and Zelda née Shoham of Stoke Newington, London.

Arthur was the navigator on Wellington W5714 which departed RAF Hampstead Norris at 18.32 hours on a navigation exercise. After midnight, a call for assistance was made and the aircraft was placed at 50° 02’ N 06° 46’ W. At 0058 hrs, a second call asking for urgent help was received and a second class fix, at 50° 00’ N 06° 50’ W, was duly sent. This was not acknowledged and the final call from the aircraft came at 0121 hrs with the wireless operator holding down his key, the transmission gradually fading away. The aircraft was presumed to have crashed into the sea west of the Isles of Scilly.

All the crew were killed.
