Marion was born on 21 January 1922 in Hendon, London to Poland born father David who changed his surname from Szwarcbart to Silver and London born Millie Cohen and she had a brother John and two sisters Ethel and Ninette. In 1921, their father owned a jewellery shop at 151 High Street in Camden Town before becoming an estate manager.

When Marion was seventeen she attended Pitman’s College and was also a volunteer ambulance driver before enlisting into the RAF.

On 1 July 1944, she was at the WAAF quarters at Colindale Hospital when a V-1 flying bomb landed on the hospital killing ten people including Marion.
