Harold Aaron was born on 24 Apr 1915 in Prestwich. He was the son of Abraham and Rachel nee Gordon. In 1939, the family were living at 2 Okeover Road, Salford and Harold’s father Abraham and his brother Lawrence are listed as financiers. Harold and his younger brother Maurice worked in law as solicitors.

On the 15 Nov 1941 Harold was flying Spitfire W3706 on Operation Rhubarb targeting the distillery at Quiberon in Brittany. The aircraft was shot down by flak and Harold was last seen swimming 3 miles north of the Marcouf Islands. A dinghy was thrown down to him but he did not survive.
