Harold was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1923 to Samuel, a tailor’s presser who was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and Leah nee Salinsky. Harold came from a huge family with sixteen siblings, although only ten survived through to adulthood.

Harold was killed in action and is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial.
