Henry was born in 27 January 1917 in Cardiff, Wales to Horace and Hilda nee Hart and was an only child. Little is known to date about his early life.

Henry was the navigator on Beaufighter JM403 alongside his Pilot Lewis Rossner, 131150. The aircraft departed RAF El Adem in Libya at 13.05 hours and was seen at 14.15 in combat with an Arado 196 at the entrance to Naussa Bay, Paros. The starboard engine caught fire and the aircraft crashed in flames on a hillside north of Langeri Bay.
