Dennis was born in Polar in 1921 the son of Moise (Morris) and Caroline née Gaspar. In 1939 the family were living at 397 East India Dock Road, Poplar where Morris worked as a furrier. Dennis enlisted into the RAF at the end of 1940.

Dennis was an air gunner on Halifax JD253 which departed from RAF Snaith on a night operation to Hanover. The aircraft was shot down by the German Luftwaffe upon returning from a bombing mission on Hannover, Germany. It crashed at Farmbeck, Humfeld, Germany killing all the crew.
