David was born on 3 June 1924 in Ghent, Belgium. His father’s name is unknown and David’s records state that his father predeceased him. His mother was Helene Marie nee Sternefeld who moved to the USA post war and worked as a language teacher.

David travelled to Canada for training on September 7 1942. He was flying in a Cornell aircraft when it crashed. His death record states that he died from a fractured arm, leg and skull.
