Harry was born in 1920 in Lambeth, London the only child of Sidney and Margaret née Eichenberger. In 1939, the family were living at Bonham Road, Lambeth where Sidney was working as a ladies hairdresser.

Harry was the wireless operator on Lancaster ME582 which departed RAF North Killingholme on a night operation to Augsburg. The aircraft crashed near Liesse killing all crew who are all buried in Liesse Communal Cemetery.
