Sully was born on 25 December 1908 in Whitechapel, London to Polish born parents Marks (Max) and Beatrice (Bina) nee Ksonze. The 1939 Register shows the family living at 22 Oakdale Avenue in Ruislip. Max was a widower and working as a director of a button manufacturing company. Beatrice had died in 1924. Sully’s brothers David and Freddie are listed as invalids and Sully was working as a designer and sales manager. Also living at the home was Beatrice’s 102 year old mother Lebe Ksonze, who died in 1940 aged 104.
Sully enlisted in 1940. Records state that 123 Maintenance Unit was based in Acre, Israel in July 1943 and moved to Gaza, Palestine in October 1943. Sully was reported missing during the battle of Kos with a presumed date of death of 3 October
