Hyman (served as Harry) was born on 21 April 1911 in Birmingham, Warwickshire. In April 1938 he married Myra Jackson in Birmingham and their daughter Jacqueline was born in April 1940. In 1939 Hyman and Myra were living at 264 Stratford Road, Birmingham and he is listed as working as a photography canvasser and in 1940 he worked as a jewellery traveller. Harry enlisted in 1941.

Hyman died at Dudley Road Hospital, Birmingham on 26 October 1941. His death certificate states he died from: ‘1(a) Sub acute bacterial endocarditis’.
