Benjamin was born on 9 Aug 1921 the son of Tullie and Sarah née Herman of Liverpool, Lancashire.
Tullie and Sarah were both from central Ukraine and married at the Central Islington Synagogue in Liverpool in 1915. Benny had three older siblings, Maurice, Annie and Sydney.
