Brian (Braham) was born on 22 March 1921 in Melbourne, Australia to Nahum and May (Queen Esther) nee Rosanove and he had two sisters Belle and Naomi. Brian attended Melbourne High School and was a member of the 3rd St. Kilda (Jewish) Scout Group and is commemorated on the Group’s Roll of Honour. The family then moved to Israel. He enlisted in July 1939 at the age of eighteen and he served in 54, 127 and 601 Squadrons. He was posted to 54 Squadron on 13 February 1940 from No. 11 Group pool. He was injured in an aircraft accident on 15 March 1940 in Magister P6358 when he hit a tree whilst flying low.

He was killed in Spitfire ER461 of 601 Squadron which was thought to have been shot down. The 601 Squadron Operation Record Book states that on 10 Dec 1942 12 aircraft took off on an offensive sweep and reconnaissance of the MARBLE ARCH AREA and LANDING GROUND. After the engagement and on reforming, it was found that No. 913822. W/O. B. RAISES (Australian) pilot in SPITFIRE V.B. No. E.R. 461, was missing. No trace could be found of this pilot or aircraft, and none of the other pilots were able to give any further information. W/O. RAISES was therefore reported MISSING cause unknown the aircraft being CAT III (Missing).
