Jack (Jacob) was born on July 1923 in St George in the East, London and had an older brother David. Research is ongoing to establish further details about his family. Records state his mother’s surname was either Damkin or Dempkin.

Jack was an air gunner on Lancaster JB740 which departed RAF Grimsby on an operation to Berlin. The aircraft was shot down by a Junkers Ju 88 night fighter based at Deelen airfield in the Netherlands and crashed between Rottorf and Helmstedt, Germany killing all onboard.
