Norman was born in 1919 to Nathan and Edith Harris. Further family details are unknown to date.

Norman was an air gunner on Wellington HZ117 which departed Gardabia West, Tripoli to attack Creteville main landing ground. A message was received that the aircraft had engine trouble and they expected to land at base at 22.30. Two aircraft reported that they had seen an aircraft exploding. The aircraft ditched and sank in the Gulf of Gabes off the coast of Tunisia.

Norman was killed along with F/O Andrew Nicol Adams and Sergeant James Hayhurst.
P/O FC Cheese and P/O P Morgan were rescued.
