Sidney was born on 1 September 1918 in London to Morris and Annie nee Greenstein and he had one sister. Little is known about Sidney’s family life. His father died before 1939 as his mother Annie is listed as a widow on the 1939 Register. Sidney in 1939 worked as a sales assistant and he lived with his mother at 52 Kyverdale Road, Hackney.

Sidney was killed on the night of 20 April 1941 by enemy bombing and his body was found on 21 April 1941 at Egerton Road, Hackney.
