Herbert (Haim-Yaakov) was born in 1905 in Berlin, Germany to Simon and Klara Beiser. He was married to Lea and they had a six month old child when he was killed.

Herbert was among the multiple casualties who were killed in an ammunition explosion at Headquarters No. 202 Group, Sidi Mahmoud near Tobruk.
