Morris was born in 1920 in Glasgow to Lithuanian born Archibald and Minnie née Barlowitz. Archibald was born in Skuodas, Lithuania, emigrated to Glasgow in 1900 and became a naturalised British citizen in 1916.

Morris was an air bomber in Hampden P4389 which took off from RAF Finningley on an air test.

The aircraft stalled and dived into the ground shortly after take–off just outside the Finningley airfield boundary (near Gatewood Farm, Gatewood Lane, Old Cantley, Doncaster) at 18.05 hours.

Five personnel were on board. Two aircrew and three ground crew.
