Henry was born in 1917 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe the son of Joseph and Annie, husband of Sheila nee Yeatman. Henry enlisted into the RAF in Rhodesia in 1940. Further details of his family are unknown to date.

Henry was the pilot of Hurricane II HV968 which took off on 13 Feb 1943 from the airfield at Shandur, Egypt on a fighter training exercise. The aircraft crashed whilst Henry was carrying out stern and quarter attacks. Henry was killed and buried the next day at the British Military Cemetery.
